Hello Kitty Holidays at The Bow Room!

What better way to kick off the holidays than a visit to The Bow Room at the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe! It truly was a Hello Kitty happy holiday for this Hello Kitty Foodie as I got to experience The Bow Room not once but twice in one day for tea service and cocktail service in the all newly holiday decorated Hello Kitty Grand Cafe.

First off was afternoon tea service. Ever since opening up in September of this year; tea time has been a big hit and it’s easy to see why as they have a full up menu of some delicious savory and sweet items.

The tea service is first kicked off with a serving of  fresh fruit consisting of local strawberries and fresh whipped cream with an imprint of Hello Kitty. How sweet it is to kick off the holidays and tea service with this.

fullsizeoutput_121a

Soon after the strawberries and fresh whipped cream is served; a Hello Kitty shaped three-tier tower filled with Hello Kitty delights comes out.

fullsizeoutput_1217

The bottom layer of the Hello Kitty three-tier tray is dedicated to savory items. First up, I tried a savory cone with creamy egg salad and paprika.

fullsizeoutput_1204

Next we tried the pretzel croissant that is filled with smoked salmon and dill cream. This was definitely a favorite during tea time. I enjoyed the nice, smokey flavor of the salmon and the pretzel flavor of the croissant.

fullsizeoutput_1219

The Hello Kitty shaped milk bread topped with cucumber and dill cream cheese was not only cute but quite tasty too!

fullsizeoutput_1209

On the second layer of the Hello Kitty three-tier tower was the sweet treats. First off we tried the mini cupcakes. I liked how they look like mini apples. It’s a nice Hello Kitty touch.

fullsizeoutput_1208

The raspberry macaron were also quite lovely. I also liked the adorable bow on top!

fullsizeoutput_11ff

One can’t have enough sweets or enough chocolate for that matter; and thus chocolate chocolate cake is perfectly sweet treat!

fullsizeoutput_1203

The top layer of the Hello Kitty three-tier tower was a mix of savory and sweet items!

The buttermilk scones paired well with tea.

fullsizeoutput_1205

I liked how they served the buttermilk scones with butter and fresh strawberry jam. How cute is it that the butter even has a Hello Kitty imprint?

fullsizeoutput_121c

The tart shell with cheese mozzarella, vine tomatoes and pesto was another savory treat I quite enjoyed.

fullsizeoutput_1202

Last but not least were the Hello Kitty and Keroppi mini cakes! I’ve enjoyed these mini cakes before via the Hello Kitty cafe truck. It was really nice to try out these soft little treats again.

fullsizeoutput_120a

All of the savory and sweet items during tea time are of course accompanied by your choice of tea. Our personal choices were lychee peach; a organic black tea with safflower and notes of apricot and ripe pear and the Japanese cherry; an organic green tea blended with rose petals and essence of cherry. One should add in the Hello Kitty sugar for a special extra touch and sweetness to the drink!

fullsizeoutput_121e

To wrap up the afternoon tea service; we were given two Hello Kitty gummies.

fullsizeoutput_1206

Tea Service at The Bow Room was absolutely wonderful but we weren’t done quite yet with celebrating the holidays because we had another reservation in the evening for cocktail service!

It was honestly hard to choose between the different cocktails on the menu that each had an adorable name. We started off with the “Happy Together” and “Picture Perfect.” Both seemed to quite have names symbolic of this Hello Kitty happy time! The “Happy Together” consists of vodka, apricot, lemon, bubbles and also has something “magical” about it!

“Picture Perfect” was my favorite drink of the night. It consists of bison grass vodka, strawberry shrub, lemon and strawberry popping boba. I liked the unique touch of strawberry popping boba and I also liked how it comes with a souvenir photo!

Another unique drink was 1974. Named after the year Hello Kitty was born; this drink had classic negroni- gin, cocchi rosa, bitter bianco and an amazing hello kitty ice-cube.

Lastly the other drink I tried that night was the Small Gift consisting of birthday tea, house-made raspberry shrub, citrus and vanilla soda! I loved the Hello Kitty cup!

fullsizeoutput_1220

I could not think of a better or cuter way to kick of the holidays than a double trip to the Hello Kitty Cafe Bow Room in one day. Happy Hello Kitty holidays!

Hello Honey and Butter!

Just recently my favorite macaron shop Honey and Butter opened up at the Irvine Spectrum.

img_2864

I first fell in love with Honey and Butter macarons via macarons from their original location in Costa Mesa. Their French macarons are truly special. They make out macaron shells out of California almonds and their macaron fillings are made out of fresh fruits and freshly ground hazelnuts and pistachios. They also have the cutest character macarons I’ve ever seen.

When I heard they were opening up a second location at the Irvine Spectrum, I was so excited because it would be another place to get some amazing treats.

img_2853

Walking into the Irvine location, I instantly could tell that this was a happy place.

img_2867

One cannot help smile at the cute decor all around.

img_2869

There are various Disney and Sanrio tsums tsums and plushes.

img_2865

I actually found out these are from the owner’s personal collection.
img_2863\

The cute decor is equivalent to the cuteness of their offerings here at Honey and Butter. They serve the traditional French sweet meringue-based confection in a variety of colorful, flavorful treats. Popular flavors include Sea Salted Caramel, Milk & Honey and Cookie Butter. Their most popular macarons however lie in their  specialty creature macarons.

img_2858

Every day Honey and Butter offers up a different macarons shaped in assorted characters. Some days it is a Hello kitty macaron. Other days  it is Mickey Mouse. Breaking Bad and Harry Potter have been on the list as well.

Hmm I am partial to their kitty macarons (I wonder why hehe. 😉 )

img_2901

Aside from offering traditional macarons, there is something new being offered at the Honey and Butter and this is none other than their Creamarons! Creamarons are macaron ice cream sandwiches. The sandwich can be made out of their traditional macarons or their character ones.

img_2856

I got a kitty creamron filled with birthday cake ice cream and topped with gummy bears and frosted flakes on my visit here. It had to be the cutest macaron sandwich ever. It was also one of the best ice cream sandwiches I’ve ever had as well. In between the rich and creamy vanilla birthday cake ice cream were chunks of real birthday cake. The toppings of frosted flakes and gummy bears made it an even more special treat! Macaron happiness indeed.

It really is all about happiness at Honey and Butter. From the happy atmosphere of the shop to their cute fresh treats, one cannot help but smile! I’m so happy to see a second location open up and I’m looking forward to trying more of their macarons.

Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up Visit!

The day all of us Hello Kitty Foodies in Southern California has finally arrived with the opening of the first ever Hello Kitty Cafe Pop!

img_2841

It seemed like only yesterday when I wrote on this blog  a post about the upcoming cafe pop up and now it’s finally here. Cuteness overload and hello kitty happiness has hit California! Just this last July 15, 2016, the cafe pop up in the form of a pink metal shipping container had its grand opening at the Irvine spectrum.

img_2173

I recently had the chance to visit the cafe and absolutely fell in love.

img_2825

The Hello Kitty Pop-Up cafe is every Hello Kitty Foodie’s dream come true. The outside alone is super kawaii. With a little gate embossed with bow ties,  a pink and white canopy and a gigantic hello kitty light on the top, it’s the cutest cafe in town!

img_2840

Right at the side of the cafe, where folks can place their orders, Hello Kitty herself is there to greet her cutie foodie fans.

img_2850

The cafe has so many delicious offerings. They’ve got sweets, drinks and espressos! How about a birthday cake consisting of vanilla bean cake, sprinkles and butter cream or a strawberry streusel tart with fresh strawberries, toasted streusel and butter tart crust or Mama’s apple pie that has assorted apples, cinnamon and buttery pie crust?  Picking what sweet treat to get was perhaps one of the hardest decisions I had to make that day! Hmm could I just have one of every thing please? 😉

img_2828

Not only are the sweets and treats cute but their packaging is super kawaii as well. The sweets box is very similar to the look of the pop-up cafe itself. The box is a “little cafe” with Hello Kitty and friends My Melody, Badtz Maru, Keroppi and Purin.

img_2848

Hmm speaking of friends, Hello Kitty’s friends were not missing at the Pop-Up Cafe because of course they were there to support their favorite Kitty friend.

I spotted everyone’s favorite roly-poly penguin, Tuxedo Sam there. He was of course dressed in his best bow tie!

img_2842

Right by the pick up window was the whole gang! Badtz Maru, Pompompurin, Chococat, Tuxedo Sam, My Melody, Keroppi and Mimi! Every one loves the Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up!

img_2823

Speaking of the pick up window. Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up’s pick up window has to be the best and cutest pick up window ever.

img_2824

It was at this super kawaii spot that I picked up all my hello kitty treats.

img_2844

One of my favorite treats from the cafe is the strawberry cake.

img_2845

The strawberry cake is a vanilla bean custard cake with butter cream and fresh strawberries. It has little hello kitty red bow ties and hello kitty faces all around. It is almost too cute to eat!

I said almost too cute 😉 hehe because one definitely needs to try this cake. The vanilla bean custard cake base is very moist. The butter cream gives just the right amount of sweetness too.

A perfect pairing to the strawberry cake is the strawberry mint lemonade.

img_2843

Filled with fresh strawberries and mint, this lemonade is the perfect for those hot summer days!

img_2898-1

The Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up will be at the Irvine Spectrum for a full year and I am sure to be back for more treats and sweet times in the future. This cafe simply spells out happiness. There are so many delicious treats featuring our favorite girl Hello Kitty. The whole place is just so, so special.  Cute. Happy. A dream come true. I could not help but smile from ear to ear during my visit here.

Do come visit the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Cafe and be hit with hello kitty happiness the moment you come :). Have a sweet day!

Back in November of last year, I happily posted about the Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up  that would be opening up soon. I am so happy to announce that the day all of us Hello Kitty Foodies has waited for has finally arrived because, Sanrio is now ready to open up the Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up Container!

img_2135

The Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up Container is slated to open to the public on Friday, July 15 at the Giant Wheel Court at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, CA. There will be grand opening festivities from Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 and as part of the grand opening there will be daily customer giveaways (while supplies last).

The pop-up cafe will be housed within a metal shipping container and there will be bistro tables on the container’s pop out patio. The whole cafe will have a fast casual setting filled with Sanrio cuteness all over.

img_2173

They will have lots of kawaii exclusive merchandise along with the foodie goodies! I’ve heard Hello Kitty and her friends, My Melody, Keroppi, Little Twin Stars and Chococat will even make appearances at the cafe! I for one am super excited and I know my fellow Hello Kitty foodies are too!

A whole new menu will be debuting at the opening and it will feature the most kawaii and tasty pies, cakes and other sweet treats.

img_2172

Every treat will of course have Hello Kitty.
