Hello Kitty Foodie is seeing yellow this Cinco de Mayo! 💛

Our favorite Gringo Bandito hot sauce is having a very special release this Cinco de Mayo!  On May 5 they are debuting their brand new ‘Spicy Yellow’ sauce. It is the newest flavor release since their popular ‘Super Hot’ variety went on sale in 2016.

You will definitely be saying “Hola” to hot with this brand new sauce! Made with Scotch Bonnet and Habanero peppers; the sauce is the hottest Gringo Bandito flavor to-date and It is definitely not the faint of heart and it’s perfect for those who like it fiery. As with the other Gringo Bandito hot sauces; this has 70% less salt than many competitors, is gluten free, contains no preservatives and is all natural.

Spicy Yellow will be released on Cinco De Mayo (Sunday 5/5) and will be available exclusively on Amazon.com and Gringo Bandito’s official online store.

Hello Kitty Cafe Ikebukuro!

Ikebukuro was one of the first places I visited during my Japan trip. The 2 story Sanrio store in the town was one of my favorite Sanrio stops 😍. Just recently I got a sweet note all the way from Japan to check out the newly opened Hello Kitty Cafe in Ikebukuro!

This new Hello Kitty cafe opened up on April 25th 2019 and is located in the 8th floor of Dining Park Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It opened up this year in honor of Hello Kitty’s 45th anniversary and will only be open for a limited time!

The cafe has an abundance of Hello Kitty tasty treats for any Hello Kitty Foodie. In this blog post, I share some of the kawaii offerings.

One of the surprising things I learned about Tokyo is that they are a hub for good tacosx Who would’ve known? Hello Kitty however knows of this fact and there is a great taco plate offered here at the Hello Kitty Cafe in Ikebukuro. The Hello Kitty taco rice plate is offered at $14 and has taco-flavored ground beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato and salsa. The cup of rice has Hello Kitty peeking from it. This is almost too cute to eat ;).

img_1515

The savory goodness doesn’t end with the taco plate however. There is also a delicious Hello Kitty tomato cream pasta. Also offered at $14; this pasta dish comes with plate of ribbon pasta in cream cheese sauce along with Hello Kitty shaped bread on top of the pasta. The plate comes with mushroom consommé soup and mashed potato salad. The mashed potatoes are shaped like Hello Kitty’s favorite fruit; apple.  The mashed potatoes  are colored with beets and pressed into a ball to make it look like a apple! How kawaii is that?

img_1516

As any Hello Kitty fan knows; Hello Kitty loves apples. Kitty’s favorite food is her Mama’s apple pie and here at Hello Kitty Cafe Ikebukuro; there are lots of apple treats that Kitty and her friends are sure to love. The apple plate comes with a grilled apple, strawberry whipped cream and layer of custard cream. This a wonderful dessert and sweet treat. It is quite a deal too for $11.50!

img_1513

There are more lovely sweet treats at the cafe. One of the neatest treat is in a little pink cup! At first glance, it looks like a really cute coffee latte, but is actually a unique take on the English trifle cake. The cake is made into a cup with a Hello Kitty design. This dessert offered at $11.50 has blue curacao panna cotta sponge cake with strawberry sauce. There is a special touch with a Hello Kitty made out of marshmallows peeking out from a cloud of whipped cream.

img_1514

To go along with the savory and sweet dishes, is an amazing tapioca drink! The tapioca drink here consists of pink strawberry yogurt, blue curacao yogurt, whipped cream and  a cherry on top. It is a lovely milk shaped special container with a label that has a Hello Kitty design. The label has Kitty surrounded by other cute and famous characters that are congratulating her on her 45th anniversary.

img_1519

All of the offerings at Hello Kitty Cafe Ikebukuro come with a  special Hello Kitty lunch mat and postcard. Drink orders come with a Hello Kitty coaster.

Hello Kitty Cafe Ikekebukro is a limited cafe and will close permanently at the end of June. It is on the 8th floor of Dining Park Ikebukuro in Tokyo. Opening hours are from 11am to 11pm on weekdays, and 10:30am to 11pm on weekends. For more info on where it is located please see this  link to Google Maps.

Special thanks to Candy Japan for reaching out to Hello Kitty Foodie

Hello King’s Hawaiian Grill @ Dodger Stadium!

Take me out to the ballgame….for some Hawaiian food!

Dodger Stadium says aloha via King’s Hawaiian Grill! Located at the left field pavilion at Dodger Stadium is King’s Hawaiian Grill. This is the second season that the Hawaiian favorite is back and they’re offering several ono (that’s delicious in Hawaiian ;)) dishes that’ll make you feel like you’re in Dodgertown, Hawaii!

No Dodger game is complete without a Dodger Dog and at King’s Hawaiian Grill they have a very special version. The Hawaiian BBQ Dodger Dog is served on King’s Hawaiian hot dog bun and is topped off with smoked pull pork and King’s Hawaiian original sweet pineapple bbq sauce!

img_1335

I loved the smoked pulled pork and the nice sweet pineapple bbq sauce that was smothered all over! It’s definitely a taste of the islands in a very unique way; Dodger style.

One of my favorite Hawaiian treats is dole whip and they have not one but three different versions at King’s Hawaiian Grill. Choice of dole whip flavors are pineapple, raspberry and strawberry. I can’t pass up on a classic pineapple dole whip and it turned out to be the perfect treat for a hot, spring baseball game!

img_1337

Best of all the dole whip comes in a souvenir Dodger hat helmet. You can choose from Dodger blue or pink! I bleed Hello Kitty pink 😉 and so I had to choose a pink one :).

In addition to offering all these delicious dishes; King’s Hawaiian has partnered with Dodger Legend Steve Garvey for special events at the King’s Hawaiian Grill throughout the Dodger season.

Saying aloha at Dodger’s Stadium via King’s Hawaiian Grill will truly make you feel like you’re in paradise in Dodgertown.

Hello Blazin’ Hens!

With the arrival of spring; it really is blazin’ in the South Bay! The heat is on especially at Blazin’ Hens in Redondo Beach!

Located at Slider Stop; is Blazin’ Hens a fried chicken joint offering Nashville hot chicken, sliders and poutine like tots and fries! I recently had a chance to visit this hotspot and I have to say it was one blazin’ hot time!

img_1281

Blazin’ Hens chickens are  Jidori style chicken that they prepare by brining for 24 hours. The chicken is then dipped in buttermilk or whole milk, depending on the cut and it is breaded. They fry the chicken right after you order to ensure the best quality. I really love how the chicken comes out so fresh, juicy and tender!

At Blazin’ Hens you have the choice of a half hen, whole hen, breast and wing, leg and thigh, tenders, wings or sliders.  Their sliders are made with another South Bay favorite; King’s Hawaiian buns.  Chicken spice level include plain (no seasoning), mild (guajillo), medium (cayenne), hot (habanero), x-hot (ghost pepper) and blazin’ (carolina reaper). I got the mild and it already had quite a kick to it! Hot!

To go along with the hot chicken; one can choose from their various sides. It is tots and fries galore here! Choices include regular tots or fries, sweet potato tots, garlic tots or fries, truffle tots or fries, gravy tots or fries, loaded tots or fries, mash and gravy, coleslaw or Nashville tots or fries and San Diego tots or fries (that includes carne asada, avocado, cheddar and jack cheese, cilantro, onions, chipotle mayo, avocado cilantro ranch and cotija cheese).  I really liked the gravy tots! It’s their version of poutine and comes with bacon maple gravy, cotija cheese, parsley and a topping of sunny side egg!

Blazin’ Hens is definitely the place to be this spring! Get your heat on and kick off spring with in the hottest way!

Hello Somi Somi Torrance!

“The fish is delish!”

Somi Somi is now in the South Bay! The dessert spot that specializes in the Korean-inspired soft serve in ornate fish-shaped cones is the newest spot to open up at Del Amo Fashion Center.

They recently had their grand opening celebration this Friday, March 22, 2019 and I had the delightful chance to eat some of their delectable desserts!

The menu of Somi Somi consists of Ah-boong and Taiyaki.

Ah-boong is a Korean dessert consisting of soft serve ice cream in a gold-fish shaped waffle cone. Here at Somi Somi customers get to pick an ice cream flavor, a filling and toppings. Among the popular  ice cream flavors are matcha, ube, oreo and black sesame. Fillings include taro, custard and red bean and toppings include sprinkles, graham crackers and cereal treats.

My choice for my Ah-boong was ube and oreo ice cream, with a gold-fish waffle filled with taro and topped off with fruity pebbles, Captain Crunch cereal and graham crackers. This fish was definitely delish!

img_1035

The other speciality of Somi Somi is their Taiyaki! Taiyaki is actually a  classic street vendor snack in Japan that consists of a warm fish-shaped cake with red bean filling. Here at Somi Somi however they not only have red bean filling but four other filling flavors; custard, nutella, taro and cheddar.

img_1034

The Taiyaki is my favorite because Somi Somi makes them fresh right when you order. I love how the filling oozes out of the warm golden fish. This is my kinda “seafood.”

img_1033

Somi Somi at Del Amo Fashion Center is celebrating their grand opening this whole weekend with a special! It is “Buy 1 ahboong and get 1 taiyaki free” till Sunday, March 24, 2019! Hurry on over and see for yourself why “the fish is delish!”

Hello Kitty Hollywood!

Lights, Camera, Action…now starring in Hollywood is Hello Kitty! Just recently it was announced that New Line Cinema, Sanrio and FlynnPictureCo. are working together for the first ever feature film that will star our favorite girl; Hello Kitty! Hello Kitty is definitely ready for her close up but before the movie hits the big screens; Kitty White is already hitting Hollywood via the newest Sanrio Corporate Store in Hollywood and Highland!

I recently had a chance to visit the newest corporate store and it is definitely 3,600 square ft of kawaii! 😻

img_0947

Walking in; one of the first things one notices is an amazing gigantic Hello Kitty Pez on display. If it looks familiar that is because it is was a part of the film Ant-Man and the Wasp! (Yes it’s that flying pez that was saw in the middle of the movie!). Right next to the Hello Kitty Pez is the ever so cute Hello Kitty on a plane. She is definitely flying to new heights in this store.

img_0932

Also on display is a large Hello Kitty figure that was once part of the original Sanrio Corporate store in San Francisco! I was so happy to see this display now making its appearance in So Cal!

img_0933

Hello Kitty’s friends also have special spots in this store. One of my favorites is Aggretsuko’s desk! Our cute angry panda friend is raging on with paperwork and a glass of iced cold beer in the office. (She has some very special notes on her monitor that visitors should definitely take note of). 😉

img_0938

My Melody also holds a special little place in the new store. It’s a perfect selfie spot with friends as our sweet bunny friend reminds us “You Can Never have Too Many Friends!”

img_0936

Hello Kitty Hollywood has lots of unique offerings but perhaps one of the most special ones is a the small pop-up that they have featuring Japangeles. The Hello Kitty x Japangeles collection can only be found at the Sanrio Corporate store in Hollywood!

img_0948

There will definitely be more featured collaborations hitting up the store in the near future! Hello Kitty is definitely ready for her close up! Come on over and say hello to the newest big star to hit Hollywood.
