Hello The Brews Hall!

Hello The Brews Hall!

The first ever multi-concept brewery and food hall in Torrance, California has opened up. The soft opening was held on November 2, 2019 and a ribbon cutting was held on November 13. Today; November 18, 2019; they had an official grand opening party!

The Brews Hall consists of two breweries, a full bar and four food concepts. It’s the brain child of famous South Bay restauranteur restaurateurs Michael and David Zislis and Dave Furano. These three restaurant gurus then partnered with Comedian George Lopez and sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd.

The two breweries inside are Buzzrock Brewing Co; a four-vessel, 20-bbl brewhouse with 17 fermenting vessels and 12 serving vessel custom designed by Michael Zislis and brewmaster Justinian Caire and George Lopez’s Ta Loco Brewing Co; a brewery offering Mexican-style beers.

This place is not just for beer lovers however as foodies will love all the food offerings that they have.

Foodies who love fried chicken will love Chicken T.W.I.LI (The Way I Like It).  They’ve got sandwiches, tenders and wings; just the way you like it!

img_5525

I tried their Fried T.W.I.LI and it instantly hit the top of my list of best sandwiches I’ve ever tried. It consisted of a huge crispy buttermilk fried chicken patty smothered with remoulade, topped with tomatoes and lettuce and sandwiched between two buttery buns. No need to go all the way to the South to have good fried chicken because you can find it right here in the South Bay!

Tacos aren’t just for Tuesdays because George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen offering tasty tacos and other authentic Mexican cuisine every day at The Brew Hall! The menu is based off of George’s grandmother’s traditional recipes and one can enjoy fresh guacamole, tacos, burritos and even loaded Cabo stuffed potatoes.

I tried the Crispy Tacos with citrus marinated chicken. It was topped with lettuce, cheese, cream and salsa mexicana. It was was crispy, delightful and definitely something to “taco” about.

Take me out to the Ball Game and to The Herd. The Herd by Sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd brings to The Brews Hall some burgers, bets and brews! Here one can catch the latest games and scores in multi-screens that are the backdrop of the counter where folks will place their order.

img_5638

Bases are loaded with the Bases Load Fries with fries, bacon, cheese, green onions and garlic aioli. It was definitely a home run with these tasty and savory fries!

Last but not least is Rock N’ Fish Grill! This place is seafood lovers paradise with various fresh fish offerings including fish n’ chips and cornmeal battered crispy fish sandwich. They also offer Rock N’ Fish’s famous New England Clam Chowder.

Hello Hopdoddy Burger Bar at The Point!

Hello Hopdoddy Burger Bar at The Point!

Who’s your doddy? 😉

Hello Kitty Foodie found herself hoppin’ back to  El Segundo today to check out Hopdoddy Burger Bar, the newest restaurant at The Point.

IMG_7794

Popular in Austin, Texas, Hopdoddy is now in the South Bay bringing their perfect union of burgers and handcrafted beer. Their name actually comes from the Handcrafted Beer (Hop) and (Doddy), the nickname given to the native cow in Aberdeen, Scotland. Everything is made daily in-house from their french fry sauces to their in house grind black angus beef to their freshly baked hamburger buns!

Hello Kitty Foodie was so lucky to be part of a special friends and family preview today! I was so happy to get a special first glance at this newest burger joint!

Every Hopdoddy experience starts out with fries first! The truffle fries here come with aioli sauce. You however can also request special sauces such as their Chipotle ketchup and their ranch dressing!

I really loved their truffle fries! it was crispy and fresh and sprinkled with lots of truffle. The aioli sauce is perfect for dipping. This was my favorite dipping sauce. The Chipotle ketchup came as a close second. It’s a ketchup with a slightly sweet kick! Even without the sauces however, the fresh fries are terrific.

IMG_7792

As delicious as the fries were, I had to save room their famous burgers! I was so excited to try the burgers here and right from the start i was impressed. They use all natural ingredients and you can personally see them grinding all their meat in house. No hormones, all natural, the burgers are made with the best ingredients!

i learned from the general manager that the Primetime burger is an award winning burger and decided to try this! When this was served, I could instantly see why this burger has gotten so many rave reviews. It’s one delicious and messy burger consisting of Texas Akaushi Beef, brie cheese, truffle aioli, arugula, caramelized onions, and steak sauce. The sweetness of the caramelized onions, the melted brie cheese and the truffle aioli all came together to bring a saucy sweetness and flavorful delight to this burger! Similarly, the deliciousness was enhanced with the thick and moist beef patty and the soft baked buns.

IMG_7790

Aside from the Primetime burger, another classic favorite here is their Magic Shroom burger! My friend got this and Ioved it’s simple goodness. This burger has angus beef, local goat cheese, field mushrooms, mayo and basil pesto! If you love mushrooms this burger is for you. It had a generous serving of fresh and tasty mushrooms. Similar to the Primetime was the hefty and juicy meat patty!

IMG_7790

It’s not all about burgers here though because Hopdoddy has excellent drinks! They’ve got a good selection of drinks on tap, sips for adults, sweet shakes, maine root sodas, iced teas and lemonade.

I personally tried their ginger lemonade and found it to be amazing! It’s refreshing and not too sweet. It’s great for the hot summer days!

IMG_7791

Aside from the ginger lemonade, I got to try their shakes! I am a big lemon fan and when one of the servers recommended the Lemon Olive Oil Biscotti, I knew i had to try it. I instantly fell in love with this shake when it came out.  A lovely lemon concoction was presented to me! It’s a thick milkshake filled with house made ice cream, lemon, local extra virgin olive oil and topped with a biscotti and whip cream. Great tart flavor with bits candied lemon rind inside, this was a very good dessert!

IMG_7793

Hopdoddy Burger Bar gave Hello Kitty Foodie plenty of reasons to smile today! Their burgers are some of the best I’ve ever had! The truffle fries were equally amazing as well as their ginger lemonade and their shakes! i love this new addition at The Point! What can I say, I am a Doddy’s girl. 😉

Hello The Standing Room Hermosa Beach!

Hello The Standing Room Hermosa Beach!

From a small stand inside a liquor store in Redondo Beach to a full fledged restaurant in Hermosa Beach, The Standing Room is all grown up!

I still remember my very first visit to The Standing Room in Redondo Beach and my blog post. The Redondo Beach location is a spot where you would not expect to find a gourmet burger spot. It’s inside a liquor store and in a small corner. No tables or seats, just a simple place to order a burger to-go. That is The Standing Room in Redondo Beach.

20140619-211113-76273965.jpg

Fast forward to June 2014 and The Standing Room has now opened up a sister restaurant in Hermosa Beach. It’s a total change from a corner spot in a liquor store because it’s now a full up restaurant complete with a full bar offering various beer and wine specialties. It’s the grown up version of the the original spot in Redondo Beach. 😉 The Hermosa location has a wooden interior with dark brown seats and tables, flat screen tvs and a bar. There’s also a lot of hockey love via a giant LA Kings wooden sign and a “Go Kings Go” plaque hanging above the bar.

20140619-211126-76286120.jpg

The menu here is a little bit smaller than their Redondo Beach location but all the favorites are on the menu such as the crowd favorite truffle parmesan fries. The Standing Room’s Truffle Parmesan fries are the best to be found in the beach cities. They’re fresh, crispy and have the perfect truffle flavor with plenty of parmesan cheese sprinkled throughout.

20140619-211140-76300748.jpg

All the popular burgers from the Redondo location are also present here in Hermosa. For my trip here, I tried the Hapa burger. It comes with a thick burger patty that is topped with a fried egg, spring mix, onion, sesame leaf and scallion in spicy vinaigrette, Korean aioli and gouchu-q.

20140619-211204-76324115.jpg

I found the Hapa burger to have the perfect mix of sweet and savory. It’s very unique. It’s a traditional American burger but with an Asian twist via the Korean aioli and the gouchu-q. The gouchu-q is similar to bbq sauce but with korean paste. The fried egg gives even more flavor to this already intense burger. The egg breaks the moment you slice the burger and the egg yolk, mixed with the Korean aioli, gouchi-q and the spicy vinaigrette makes this a very saucy, messy and tasty sandwich.

20140619-211216-76336969.jpg

It’s nice to see The Standing Room have a new spot open in Hermosa Beach. The Redondo Beach location has been popular for years and for very good reason! I am quite sure that this new Hermosa Beach location will also become quite popular! Same tasty burgers but new vibe, new scene!

Hello Five Guys!

Hello Five Guys!

“Though she be but little she is fierce!”- Shakespeare

That Shakespeare quote was definitely on my mind as I tried Five Guys for the first time. Their little burgers and litte fries maybe little in name but definitely not all in size or taste!

20130719-130547.jpg

I started off my meal here with trying out some of their free peanuts. A bit on the salty side but still a nice freebie! It kinda reminds me of peanuts at a baseball game.

20130719-130617.jpg

I got a Little cheeseburger and topped it with mayo, ketchup, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I loved the grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. These definitely gave the big taste in this little burger.

20130719-130643.jpg

The cajun fries were fierce! Fierce in spice and fierce in size! My small fries cup was overflowing and I could barely finish it. It was fierce in spice because I did not expect the kick it had to it. There was plenty of pepper flavor on these thick potatoes.

20130719-130658.jpg

Fierce food, Five guys! Who would’ve thought, I’d be reminded of Shakespeare, eating here. 😉

Hello The Standing Room!

Hello The Standing Room!

There is a Filipino soap opera that I watch called Be Careful with My Heart and on the show there is a character who always says “OMG.” The character on the show says it really loud too like “OHHHHMYYYYGEEE.”
When I went to this small little place inside a liquor store, I was essentially like that character because I really did want to yell out “OHHHHMYYGEEE.” It’s a burger spot inside a liquor store! So unique and so “OHHHMYYGEEE” worthy!

You see the food at The Standing Room is stuff that will make folks be in awe. Their burgers are packed with flavor and have distinct taste. On a recent trip here, I tried the Napoleon. The Napoleon is one BIG burger worthy of a “OHHHHMYYGEEE” yell. It has a half pound burger pattie, bacon, smoked gouda, cheddar, caramelized onion, spring mix, braised short rib, fried egg, and truffle Parmesan Fries. That’s three types of meat, egg and fries! Fries in a burger and all that meat… so many ingredients, so many yummy flavors! “OHHHHMYGEE”

burger

Aside from the Napoleon, my friend and I got a side of truffle Parmesan fries! Like the burger, the fries are intense. They serve it a large paper cone like wrapping. There’s a lot of fries sprinkled with plenty of parmesan. “OHHHMYGEE” 😉

trufflefries

I was simply in awe at the big and tasty portions of the food that The Standing Room offered. I was so in awe that there was a moment where I was just “standing” there and saying…(you guessed it 😉 “OHHHMYGEE” ;).
