Back in 2018; I wrote a blog post about the newest Happy Lemon in Gardena, California. The new boba spot was quick to become my happy place. I absolutely love their boba. (Favorite boba drinks include the Purple Taro Milk Tea with Taro Ball and Green Milk Tea with Strawberry Trifle and Crystal Boba )
Fast forward two years later; Happy Lemon Gardena is bringing even more happiness to Pacific Square as well as more happiness to my tummy and heart ;). They are now offering Sunmerry Bakery cafe goodies! Several Happy Lemon locations in California already partner with Sunmerry Bakery and so it’s definitely nice to see them also be paired up here at the Gardena location.
Sunmerry Bakery had originally started in Japan and was brought to Taiwan in 1986. Their speciality is combining Japanese baking techniques with Taiwan flavors. Two delicious cuisines are combined to bring some delightful baked goods.
This November 2020; Happy Lemon Gardena had a safe, socially distanced soft opening celebrating their new partnership with Sunmerry Bakery.
I picked up a few baked goods at the recent soft opening and needless to say I am once again a very happy girl. Among my choices were Shiitake Cheese, Bolo, Mochi Taro and Mochi Black Sesame. I love Japanese baked goods but Sunmerry definitely kicks it up a notch by adding that Taiwanese twist. These baked goods were perfect with my favorite boba drinks.
Speaking of boba; I also found a very special and unique dessert here; boba egg pie! I love boba and I love egg pie and so this dessert was truly meant for me. It has egg pie topped off with several boba pearls and a wafer straw cookie. Yummy! Sunmerry makes me so happy!
Happy Lemon Gardena was always my happy place but even more so now.

We now have a little taste of France in Redondo Beach! Paris Baguette Bakery Cafe has recently opened up in Redondo Beach and this place is sure to make you say “Je T’aime Paris Baguette.”
It is truly not hard to fall in love with this cute little bakery cafe. Walking in you are greeted with a wonderful assortment of French bread and pastries. They have a wonderful array of both sweet and savory goodies for you to enjoy. Among the delicious sweet treats are raspberry cream cheese and blueberry cream cheese croissants, lemon pain aux raisin bread and chocolate croissants. (I love how the raspberry cream cheese croissant has lots of sweet raspberry jam in it! I also love that the lemon pain six raisin bread has swirls of cream cheese on top!) Savory delights can be found in their ham and cheese panini and their hash brown bread. (I am simply crushing how the ham and cheese panini has a hint of pesto! This Hello Kitty Foodie is also enamored with the hash brown bread that is packed with a whole hash brown, ham and cheese!)
To go along with their fresh baked offerings, Paris Baguette has a full coffee menu with iced coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, mocha and drip coffees!
It is no secret that I love cute coffee houses and Paris Baguette just made me oh so happy with their fragrant cup of hazelnut coffee. A croissant plus their coffee is truly a match made in heaven!
Last but definitely not least, is their beautiful desserts.
It is truly every sweet tooth’s dream come true here. They have various cream puffs, fruit tarts, cheesecake, cake rolls, cakes and macarons! They also have “Delightful Bites” of cookies in cranberry almond flavor and salted caramel chocolate in cute small mason bars. These sweet treats are perfect for a small afternoon snack or dessert!
From their freshly bakes French bread and pastries to their fresh brewed coffee and their beautiful cakes and dessert, it is hard not to fall in love with Paris Baguette! It makes my heart happy to see this new bakery open up in Redondo Beach!
Along with the recent opening of the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Cafe last month in Irvine Spectrum, there was another sweet surprise that came our way! Similar to the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Cafe, this surprise was cute, pink and hello kitty happy! That sweet surprise was no other than the launch of the Hello Kitty Strawberry Surprise cookie mix.
Betty Crocker and Sanrio have come together to offer this cute ready-to-bake cookie mix topped with an edible Hello Kitty image.
I recently purchased this cookie mix and had a lot of fun baking with hello kitty!
All that is needed is 1/3 cup vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon of water and 1 egg. It is so fun watching the cookie mix, oil, water and egg mix together because the dough starts turning pink! Once the dough is ready, the next fun part was shaping the dough and placing the hello kitty edible images on the dough.
After baking for about 12 minutes at 350 F, the result was cutest pink cookies ever!
I was really pleased with how easy it was to make these cookies and I was in heaven with the result. The sweet aroma of these cookies filled my kitchen. Once the cookies were ready to eat, I found them to be very delicious. They were not just plain sugar cookies, the strawberry taste was distinct. It was definitely a strawberry surprise at first bite!
For anyone who loves to bake and a hello kitty fan, these cookies are just for you! Hello Kitty and cookies are the perfect combination. The new cookie mix is currently available at grocery stores and mass retailers throughout the United States.
