It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! It’s starting to get colder. Houses are starting to put up holiday decor. It’s that time of year to start thinking of what to gifts to give. For all the Hello Kitty fans out there, have no fear because Sanrio has the perfect way to bring some Sanrio smiles for the holidays via their Hello Sanrio product offerings!
This past Thursday on November 17, Sanrio had a special pre-launch event at the Sanrio Japanese village in Little Tokyo to preview the exclusive hello sanrio collection. The following day, November 18, the hello sanrio product collection officially launched to the public! There are t-shirts, key rings, notebooks, clip-on plush and cushions and many more kawaii items.
The face of the new hello sanrio collection is no other than L.A. based artist and Youtube phenom That Poppy
Fans will have a chance to meet and see Poppy at launch events for the new brand! She’ll be part of a digital look book that will show the hello sanrio collection and all the fun hello sanrio characters. Alongside the look book, UK-based design duo TADO
with Sanrio has created digital shorts with the hello sanrio characters. The look book and digital shorts will be featured on the hello sanrio microsite
as well as Sanrio
’s social media channels.
The hello sanrio collection has lots of kawaii fashion apparel, lifestyle accessories featuring our favorite friends Hello Kitty, Keroppi, Chococat, Badtz-Maru, My Melody, Pompompurin, Gudetama, Little Twin Stars, and Pochacco. Sanrio has partnered with several fun brands to bring something for every Sanrio fan out there.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, Sanrio and Loot Crate have come together to offer their “Sanrio Small Gift Crate” subscription.
This special mystery gift crate subscription is available for order now and the first box has a hello sanrio theme with exclusive apparel and collectibles. Don’t forget to order before November 30, so that you will be sure to receive a crate before Christmas.
Another fun thing to watch out for is McDonald’s happy meals. Once again McDonald’s will be offering kawaii Sanrio toys. This time it will have a hello sanrio theme. Eight different hello sanrio characters will be featured in this his Happy Meal promotion that will launch at participating McDonald’s locations in the U.S. and Canada on November 22. It will run through December 19 or while supplies last.

Lakai Footwear is now offering a special hello sanrio collection of lace-up men’s skate shoes and apparel. They are available at Zumiez stores and sanrio.com
. They will be at select Sanrio
stores in early December.

Favorite kawaii shop JapanLA on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles also has special hello sanrio collection of contemporary sportswear. The bomber jacket and matching leggings are my personal favorite!

Sanrio & SEGA are also teaming up to launch Sonic the Hegdehog x Sanrio collection!

This kawaii game enables fans to race through Sonic’s world as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat or Badtz-Maru! Players can unlock the Sanrio cast of characters by completing the in-game challenge each week. Once unlocked, the Sanrio characters will be available for play into perpetuity. It is available in the App Store for iPhone and iPad, Google Play, Amazon Underground and for Windows Phones.
The first phase of this adorable collaboration will include the launch of 10-inch plushes featuring mash-ups of SEGA’s Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy with Sanrio characters Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, Chococat and My Melody. These will be available on December 15th.
The second phase of the collection will feature expanded categories including plush and collectible vinyl figures from Toynami and include variations of co-branded SEGA and Sanrio character designs. This will be coming next year in 2017.
Last but definitely not least BoxLunch retail stores will have offer up select hello sanrio merchandise. Sanrio & BoxLunch will host an in-store event at the Powell Street pop-up store in San Francisco, on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 to celebrate the launch of the kawaii collection. Our favorite hello sanrio characters will be there for photos with fans! A designer from Sanrio’s Tokyo headquarters will also be on site to hand draw personalized character artwork for customers with purchases over $150. A second in-store event will take place on Saturday, December 17, at BoxLunch at Irvine Spectrum Center, in Irvine.
