Hello dineLA at Circa!

Twice a year a event for every true foodie takes place in restaurants all over the city of Los Angeles.

This event is dineLA. During dineLA prix fixe menus filled with delectable delights are offered. It’s a chance for diners to experience new cuisine and enjoy it at special prices.

Circa in Manhattan Beach opened in mid February last year and I’ve been wanting to dine here ever since but it was not until dineLA this year that I finally found myself at Circa trying out a special three dinner course menu.

For the first course, I chose the Thai Kale Salad. It is a very nice salad filled with coconut, carrot, cucumber and toasted peanuts. This salad had a little hint of spice from a mix of sriracha, a little hint of sweet due to the touch of coconut and honey and a little hint of sour due to some rice vinegar. It’s a great mix of Asian fusion.

For the second course, I chose the butternut squash gnocchi. I had heard this was a popular dish at Circa and I was eager to try it out. A beautiful golden plate of gnocchi, hen of wood mushrooms, brussel sprouts and sage was presented. The gnocchi was perfectly light and oh so soft. Now, it’s no secret I’m a fan of pumpkin and butternut squash is very much like pumpkin. This butternut squash gnocchi had a amazing flavor that was simply delightful to the palate.

The third course was the dessert course! I got the warm churros dessert that came with two dipping sauces, vanilla caramel and chocolate ganache. The churros were fresh and hot and dipping them in the two sauces added an even sweeter touch. I was a fan of the vanilla caramel that had a good blend of both vanilla and caramel. The chocolate ganache was on the dark chocolate side.

It was definitely a wonderful dineLA experience for myself and my friends. From the hearty and healthy kale salad to the soft tasty gnocchi to the sweet treat churros, I was impressed and look forward to trying this place again for another dinner or happy hour.

I have already eyed the happy hour menu and know from seeing the place full with plenty of folks celebrating the start of the weekend with happy hour, that there will be reason to come back here ;), They have a great happy hour menu till 6:30 pm that includes $5 cocktails and three of their appetizers for $12.
Some of their yummy appetizers offered are the wood grilled prawns, beef tenderloin skewers and crispy pee wee potatoes.

Based off my dineLA experience, I am sure that happy hour will be equally as impressive. See you again soon Circa :).
